Now I don't know if it is because of the market being down, or that the Roof is just trying to save money but the food is just average in taste. The rolls taste like they were made earlier that morning and the staff warms them up in the microwave for each guest as they arrive. The pasta entree that I tried tasted watered down and the noodles were barely warm. The salad was fine but I didn't pay $39.99 plus tax per plate to eat salad, prime rib and a dessert or two. To fill myself up I went back for the prime rib several times to just to fill satisfied.<br />I hope my next visit will be better, at least the atmosphere and my date made it enjoyable and memorable, and the view of the Salt Lake temple is outstanding.<br />Maybe next time I'll try to slip a chocolate strawberry in my pocket before I leave or maybe not.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/54/591788/restaurant/Capitol-Hill/The-Roof-Restaurant-Salt-Lake-City"><img alt="The Roof Restaurant on Urbanspoon" src="http://www.urbanspoon.com/b/link/591788/minilink.gif" style="border:none;width:130px;height:36px" /></a>Food Specialisthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11786306056942685499noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6118040539082893294.post-7810550429894338942009-10-29T07:44:00.000-07:002009-10-29T08:05:54.681-07:00Megaplex 17 at Jordan Commons Deli, Sandy<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px; color: rgb(51, 51, 51); line-height: 20px; ">Stars: 4 out of 5<div><br /></div><div>Location:</div><div>9400 South State Street, Sandy, Utah</div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial, sans-serif;color:#000000;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; line-height: normal; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 2px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 2px; font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;font-size:100%;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: separate; font-size: 12px; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 0px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 0px;"><br /></span></span></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: arial, sans-serif; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; line-height: normal; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 2px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 2px; font-size: small; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(51, 104, 85); font-family: Tahoma, serif; font-size: 11px; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: separate; line-height: 12px; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 0px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 0px; font-size: 10px; "><br /></span></span></span></span></div><div>Atmosphere:</div><div>If you like the look and smell of movie theaters then this is the place.</div><div><br /></div><div>Food:</div><div>The Deli in the food court of Jordan Commons has a good menu of items to choose from. Many of my favorite sandwiches and soups are listed as ala carte or together in a meal deal. They have been adding items to the menu which was a surprise to me. Even though the prices are a bit high, as can be expected for a theater, it is beneficial to have a Mega Card with you to purchase your food items. I was able to purchase my food, drink, and my popcorn for the movie all on the same card and walk into the movie theater with everything stacked on the tray.</div><div><br /></div><div>I chose to go with the Philly Steak and Cheese sandwich meal and I chose fries as my side item. The other side items that I could have chosen from were homemade chips and buffalo chips. Both my sandwich and my fries came out hot and delicious., the cheese was melting and the hot fires were great with the fry sauce. The sandwich looked a little smaller than I remembered it in the past but I was still very full, so full in fact that I couldn't finish my fries even though I really wanted too. The fries were a lot thicker than most eating establishments that I have been too and they were also seasoned well.</div><div><br /></div><div>With a big drink from my refillable theater mug, only a dollar to refill, and a full stomach I was very satisfied from the over all meal. I have had better Philly steak and cheese sandwiches but this one was good in comparison. If I add more points to my card I will definitely get another sandwich from this deli.</div></span>Food Specialisthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11786306056942685499noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6118040539082893294.post-80335390494325568302009-07-22T12:28:00.000-07:002009-07-22T14:37:05.901-07:00The Village Baker, West Jordan<span class="Apple-style-span" style=" color: rgb(51, 51, 51); line-height: 20px; font-size:13px;">Stars: 4.5 out of 5<div><br /></div><div>Location:</div><div>1658 West 9000 South, West Jordan, Utah</div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial, sans-serif;color:#000000;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; line-height: normal; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 2px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 2px;font-size:small;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:arial, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; line-height: normal; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 2px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 2px; font-size:small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(51, 104, 85); font-family:Tahoma, serif;font-size:11px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: separate; line-height: 12px; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 0px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 0px; font-size:10px;"><br /></span></span></span></span></div><div>Atmosphere:</div><div>Wonderful cooking establishment setup as a delivery or take-out bakery.</div><div><br /></div><div>Food:</div><div>They bake bread, desserts, rolls and yes even pizza. The Village Baker has the best tasting bread I have ever eaten on a sandwich. I have tried their Honey Wheat, Honey White, White, and Sour Dough bread and I really like the Honey Wheat and Honey White breads. We picked up a couple sandwiches and their broccoli cheese soup. I choose the Turkey Provolone sandwich with Honey Wheat bread and it was delicious. My eyes were bigger than my stomach though because I couldn't finish the whole sandwich. I would have been fine with a half sandwich and the soup, it was big. They put a good amount of portions on the sandwich and make it worth the price. If you don't eat a lot I would recommend the soup and half sandwich.</div><div><br /></div><div>A couple weeks ago I tried their pizza and it wasn't too bad. At this store we ordered take-out because we didn't want to sit down with the crowd. The crust is always a thick mouth-watering crust, there is always plenty of greasy melted cheese on each slice and the sauce is to die for! We were limited on cash for this day so we just ordered a large pepperoni pizza. With a large they cut it into 8 slices so just enough for both my friend and I. With the third slice I was satisfied but it tasted so good that I had to finish off my fourth, even though I knew I was going to be full. It was great hot! I will definitely buy more pizza from "The Pie"</div><div><br /></div><div>Other great items that they have are their <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">Zappis</span>, which are "The Pie's" version of <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">calzones</span>, very big and very delicious. WHAT? There is something called "planning" that most eating establishments do to make sure they have the food and drinks that are listed on their menu available for their customers. I ordered their new <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">sandwich</span> that they had posted on the wall, the "Turkey Bacon Smoked <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">Cheezy</span>." Overall I would go back to try their pizza and to give them one more shot, BUT, they better have Dr. Pepper.</div></span>Food Specialisthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11786306056942685499noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6118040539082893294.post-363810232769719962009-07-13T10:17:00.000-07:002009-07-13T10:50:26.605-07:00Subway, in Herriman<span class="Apple-style-span" style=" color: rgb(51, 51, 51); line-height: 20px; font-size:13px;">Stars: 4 out of 5<div><br /></div><div>Location:</div><div>13308 South 5600 West, <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Herriman</span>, Utah</div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica;color:#000000;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: normal; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 1px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 1px;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family:arial, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; line-height: normal; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 2px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 2px; font-size:small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" color: rgb(51, 104, 85); font-family:Tahoma, serif;font-size:11px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: separate; line-height: 12px; -webkit-border-horizontal-spacing: 0px; -webkit-border-vertical-spacing: 0px; font-size:10px;"><br /></span></span></span></span></div><div>Atmosphere:</div><div><span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">Mmm</span>, the smell of <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">fresh</span> bread baking as you walk in the door. I think the Training Table has the best cheese fries in the state. Once again, I am pretty picky when it come to cheese fries and I usually like my fries a little thicker but these were thick enough and the cheese was just the right amount. When I walked in I was surprised to see that they sell tamales, tacos and burritos. Well, since I was hungry and I like tamales and Ice cream I decided to order both. My one tamale was $1.75 and the double scoop vanilla waffle cone was $3.25. The tamale hit the spot but I thought it was a little pricey for the amount I received. The vanilla waffle cone had just the right amount of ice cream but I did detect some freezer burn when I was eating it. Over all the Ice cream hit the spot and enticed me to go to the real store in <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_7">Taylorsville</span> to get a "Marie's Hot Fudge Sundae", <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_8">mmmmm</span>. As I bit into the melting cheese of the Super Star I knew my appetite had been satisfied. I couldn't get enough of that burger but it was just the right amount for my appetite. A second burger would have done me in, so it was a good thing I had a friend to use the other burger on our "buy one get one free." </span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;">I 'm not a big fan of </span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" color: rgb(51, 51, 51); line-height: 20px; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;">chili </span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); line-height: normal; "><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;">cheese fries but after the cheese melted on these ones they looked very tempting. I enjoyed the chili and the cheese but the fries were not what I expected, a little skinny and too wimpy for the chili cheese fries that I am used to. But hey, I got a free drink with the coupon so it wasn't that bad.</span></span></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:georgia;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;">Over all, Carl Jrs is an upscale fast food burger joint with some of the best fast food burgers in the valley.
