If you like the look and smell of movie theaters then this is the place.

The Deli in the food court of Jordan Commons has a good menu of items to choose from. Many of my favorite sandwiches and soups are listed as ala carte or together in a meal deal. They have been adding items to the menu which was a surprise to me. Even though the prices are a bit high, as can be expected for a theater, it is beneficial to have a Mega Card with you to purchase your food items. I was able to purchase my food, drink, and my popcorn for the movie all on the same card and walk into the movie theater with everything stacked on the tray.

I chose to go with the Philly Steak and Cheese sandwich meal and I chose fries as my side item. The other side items that I could have chosen from were homemade chips and buffalo chips. Both my sandwich and my fries came out hot and delicious., the cheese was melting and the hot fires were great with the fry sauce. The sandwich looked a little smaller than I remembered it in the past but I was still very full, so full in fact that I couldn't finish my fries even though I really wanted too. The fries were a lot thicker than most eating establishments that I have been too and they were also seasoned well.

With a big drink from my refillable theater mug, only a dollar to refill, and a full stomach I was very satisfied from the over all meal. I have had better Philly steak and cheese sandwiches but this one was good in comparison. If I add more points to my card I will definitely get another sandwich from this deli.

The Village Baker, West Jordan

Wonderful cooking establishment setup as a delivery or take-out bakery.

Food:

They bake bread, desserts, rolls and yes even pizza. The Village Baker has the best tasting bread I have ever eaten on a sandwich. I have tried their Honey Wheat, Honey White, White, and Sour Dough bread and I really like the Honey Wheat and Honey White breads. We picked up a couple sandwiches and their broccoli cheese soup. I choose the Turkey Provolone sandwich with Honey Wheat bread and it was delicious. My eyes were bigger than my stomach though because I couldn't finish the whole sandwich. I would have been fine with a half sandwich and the soup, it was big. They put a good amount of portions on the sandwich and make it worth the price. If you don't eat a lot I would recommend the soup and half sandwich.

A couple weeks ago I tried their pizza and it wasn't too bad. The crust was little more fluffy then I would have liked it , probably because of all the yeast, but the pizza tasted very good.

Overall, I would definitely go back and get a sandwich anytime I was craving one for lunch. I believe these are one of the best sandwiches made in the valley.

The PIE Pizzeria, Midvale

Really small space compared to the other stores in Utah; there is not enough room to sit down when the place is packed at lunch and dinner time.

Food:

This pizza is one of my favorite in Utah. At this store we ordered take-out because we didn't want to sit down with the crowd. The crust is always a thick mouth-watering crust, there is always plenty of greasy melted cheese on each slice and the sauce is to die for! We were limited on cash for this day so we just ordered a large pepperoni pizza. With a large they cut it into 8 slices so just enough for both my friend and I. With the third slice I was satisfied but it tasted so good that I had to finish off my fourth, even though I knew I was going to be full. It was great hot! I will definitely buy more pizza from "The Pie"

Other great items that they have are their Zappis, which are "The Pie's" version of calzones, very big and very delicious. They also offer "Cheesy Pullaparts" , which are their version of breadsticks but they have cheese melted through the middle, mmm.

Schlotzskys, Sandy

Nice place for a quick bite to eat. There were several tables and not too many people in the place so there was plenty spots to choose between.

Food:

I hadn't been to Schlotzsky's in a while, 10 years in fact, but I remember their good sourdough bread. I asked to get a combo and then when I went to get a drink of Dr. Pepper the cashier said that it was out because they, "got bombarded on the weekend and haven't had a truck deliver the syrup yet." WHAT? There is something called "planning" that most eating establishments do to make sure they have the food and drinks that are listed on their menu available for their customers. I ordered their new sandwich that they had posted on the wall, the "Turkey Bacon Smoked Cheezy." It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either but the sourdough bread was still good. Overall I would go back to try their pizza and to give them one more shot, BUT, they better have Dr. Pepper.

Subway, in Herriman

Mmm, the smell of fresh bread baking as you walk in the door. Nice and cozy place, to sit down and eat lunch.

Food:
I have my favorites at Subway, so I decided to go for one of them again and it was only $5.00, (because of their 5 dollar foot long special... love it). So I chose the roasted chicken with the 9 grain wheat bread, my wife thinks the chicken tastes like rubber but I don't mind it, besides it tastes like chicken.

They asked me if I wanted it toasted, but at Subway I think it loses the fresh bread taste when you toast it. I could eat one of those loaves directly out of the oven, if they would let me.

Over all it was a great sandwich and the building is one of the nicer subway restaurants that I have been in. Besides, the manager treated me very good and I am sure going to hit this one the next time I have a craving for a roasted chicken or steak and cheese sandwich!

The Training Table

Inviting, friendly hamburger joint where the customer can view the menu, decide on what they want and then pick up the wall phone and call in the order. When the order is ready, the front counter will buzz the wall phone for the customer to pickup their food and pay.

Food:

I ordered the standard cheese burger (can't go wrong with a cheese burger), built in a combo with drink and their famous cheese fries. The cheeseburger was better then then an average fast food burger, thick and fresh. But their famous cheese fries were to die for! I think the Training Table has the best cheese fries in the state. Once again, I am pretty picky when it come to cheese fries and I usually like my fries a little thicker but these were thick enough and the cheese was just the right amount. The ultimate fry sauce is one of the best in the state, it might be because they use bar-b-q sauce as one of the main ingredients but whatever it is I love it. Overall, I would eat there anytime anyone asked me especially if they are paying!

Leatherbys Ice Cream Outlet

Cold (A/C was blasting), small, dining area with several tables. Small, quiet area with just enough space for a small chat with friends.

Food:

I came to try the ice cream because it was at a discounted price and I absolutely love the ice cream at the Leatherby's restaurant in Taylorsville, Utah. When I walked in I was surprised to see that they sell tamales, tacos and burritos. Well, since I was hungry and I like tamales and Ice cream I decided to order both. My one tamale was $1.75 and the double scoop vanilla waffle cone was $3.25. The tamale hit the spot but I thought it was a little pricey for the amount I received. The vanilla waffle cone had just the right amount of ice cream but I did detect some freezer burn when I was eating it. Over all the Ice cream hit the spot and enticed me to go to the real store in Taylorsville to get a "Marie's Hot Fudge Sundae", mmmmm. I think I might go back sometime to get a quick ice cream fix but I may have to look for a better price if I want a good tamale.

Better than average hamburger fast food joint. Wait in line to get your food and then they give you a customer number so you can sit down and then they deliver your food to you.

Food:

We tried the Super Star Cheeseburger and the Chili Cheese Fries because of the great coupons delivered in our mail box. As I bit into the melting cheese of the Super Star I knew my appetite had been satisfied. I couldn't get enough of that burger but it was just the right amount for my appetite. A second burger would have done me in, so it was a good thing I had a friend to use the other burger on our "buy one get one free."

I 'm not a big fan of chili cheese fries but after the cheese melted on these ones they looked very tempting. I enjoyed the chili and the cheese but the fries were not what I expected, a little skinny and too wimpy for the chili cheese fries that I am used to. But hey, I got a free drink with the coupon so it wasn't that bad.

Over all, Carl Jrs is an upscale fast food burger joint with some of the best fast food burgers in the valley. Anytime I see the coupons come in the mail, I'll give them a try.
